Letting the light in

You are never far from something good, if you care to lace up your shoes, go for a walk, and if you are curious to see what is around the corner and to keep your head in the direction of the sun. And if you can’t walk yet, find an old Adirondack chair and sit for a while.

Keep your heart in everything you do, and take it wherever you go. It is with passion, appreciation, and love that the world opens up to you. It is by opening the aperture that the light comes in. It is by doing things in love, even when you are missing some parts, that we can find joy.

Imagine a kaleidoscope with swirling colors and patterns swimming in light when they enter the eye. This is how I see the world to be - full in hue and vibrancy and beauty, and set into motion when you turn the tube. Anyone can look into a kaleidoscope and realize immediately the imminent goodness and opportunity.

To be in pain does not limit your joys. When one door closes, another opens. It is in this that the kaleidoscope turns. It is in losing the things you love (even temporarily) that you discover your love for other things. In the field at camp sitting in a hammock I realize all that is now real and true is around me, and nothing could be better than what is here and present.
