Today is Sunday, which means that one week from now I will be allowed to go on my first run. I will have to cap it at one mile max, but I don’t know yet how well I can run yet so we will see how long I can last. Also, I technically have to meet some requirements my PT place has for running readiness, but I might go for a run if I don’t anyway. I chose July 27th because it is exactly 8 months after my first surgery, so it feels better than July 28th even if there is no specific reason for it anyway. It will have been 13 days after walking without crutches.

I want to do my first run alone, without music, in my neighborhood on the loop I have done a million times. My favorite loop is a little over 2 miles, and it is not very hilly, so I think I will run until I hit a mile and then walk & reflect for the rest of it. I probably will not tell anyone either, except for my family. My friend wants to do my first run with me, and she has wanted to do it since January, and I do not know how to say I don’t want her to. Maybe I will do my second or third run with her.

I will have to go to Fleet Feet to get fitted for some new shoes as well, so as to fix my gait when I start. When I came back from surgery in 7th grade I did not wait long enough at all, so I usually had a slight limp since then that I would like to get rid of this season.
